To whom it may concern,

I have learned that the Turkish police forces are planning to buy around 1.5 million tear gas canisters from different vendors: DaeKwang in Korea, Condor in Brazil and NonLethal Technologies in USA. As you most probably are aware, international news media has covered the chemical assault of Turkish police forces against protesters since 2013. Use of toxic chemical agents by the Turkish Police is indiscriminate, inhumane, and medically unacceptable because of lasting health repercussions. Besides its a well documented fact that despite contrary instructions, police forces directly aim the crowds with their anti-riot guns. According to Turkish Doctors Union report, during the 2013 Gezi protests in two weeks about ten thousand people are injured, 35 persons who were hit with canisters at 5 meter range lie in intensive care with fractured skulls while 12 others have lost their eyes. Police shot 14 year old Berkin Elvan with a tear gas canister. He remained 269 in comma and died on 11 March 2014.

Please stop export of OC or CS gases and other such agents to Turkey.

If your company or country continues to export these items you will be held liable in international law suits for providing grounds to intentional abuse and misuse of these agents by Turkish police forces. Please do heed this call and stop providing Turkey with crowd control agents until perpetrators of excessive or improper use of force are held accountable in Turkey.
